Job’s friends came to comfort him, and much of what they believed about God was true. So how did their counsel become so hurtful?

This Sunday, we enter the first of Job’s “campfire conversations” and discover the danger of giving easy explanations for suffering we do not fully understand. We will also see something remarkable in Job: even in his confusion, grief, and anger, he keeps reaching for God.

When suffering does not make sense, resist easy explanations, listen with love, and keep reaching for God.
