Is God Still Good? – Psalm 73

Is God still good when life does not seem fair?

Sometimes the people who ignore God appear to prosper, while those who are trying to live faithfully continue to struggle. In those moments, what we see can begin to challenge what we believe. We may even wonder whether obedience is worth it.

This Sunday, in Part 7 of our series through the Psalms, we will turn to Psalm 73. Asaph nearly lost his spiritual footing because he envied the arrogant and could not understand why the wicked seemed to succeed. Everything changed, however, when he brought his confusion into the presence of God.

Psalm 73 does not give us an easy explanation for every injustice, but it does give us a better perspective. It reminds us that prosperity is not the greatest good, suffering is not the greatest evil, and God himself is better than everything else.

Join us Sunday as we learn how to hold on to what we know about God when we cannot understand what we see, and why we can still say, “But as for me, it is good to be near God.”
