In an act of miraculous power, the Israelites walked across dry ground and now stand at the foot of Jericho. Time to attack! Yet God says, "Wait."  God asks His people to consecrate themselves for the Passover meal, all before moving into battle, while sitting in the shadow of Jericho's walls! We, too, must place faithfulness above vision, worship above practicality, and God above our kingdoms of self.

We all strive for things in this world. We have ambitions for careers, relationships, travel, or something else. Often, what drives those ambitions is the confidence that we have in ourselves: our knowledge, our training, our education, our talent. Join us next week as we look to Philippians 3 and see how Paul, who had every reason to be confident in his work and circumstances, considered all of that worthless compared to "the surpassing worth of knowing Christ."
As we close out our series through Habakkuk, we join with the prophet as he rests in joy and worship. Moved from complaint to trust, we will be challenged to take our fears to God, and trust in the One who is the joy of our salvation!
